FC Rostov beats CSKA to take top spot in Russian league (The Associated Press)
Surprise title challenger FC Rostov snatched top spot in the Russian Premier League on Saturday with a 2-0 win over CSKA Moscow. Goals at the end of each half from Dmitry Poloz and Moussa Doumbia were enough to sink CSKA and give new impetus to underdog Rostov in the title race. A key figure in Rostov's rise is Kurban Berdyev, the Turkmenistan-born coach who previously took Rubin Kazan to two Russian titles and has a reputation for overperforming on a modest budget.
