Newcastle goalkeeper Elliot injured "for a number of months" (The Associated Press)
Newcastle says goalkeeper Rob Elliot will be out for ''a number of months'' after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament in a warm-up match with Ireland ahead of the European Championship. Elliot was carried off on a stretcher in the 14th minute of Ireland's 2-2 friendly draw against Slovakia on Tuesday. The injury rules him out the European Championship in June and will dent Newcastle's attempt to retain its Premier League status.
