Successful on the field, FC Dallas still couldn't add to its trophy case during a 2015 season of near misses. FC Dallas set franchise records with 18 wins and 60 points last season but wound up with little to show for those accomplishments, having been edged out by the New York Red Bulls for the Supporters' Shield and losing to eventual MLS Cup champion Portland in the West finals. Dallas used the first pick of the Re-Entry Draft to land ex-Portland striker Maximiliano Urruti, whose six goals across all competitions ranked second among Timbers' players.
