Ajax beats PEC Zwolle 3-0 to go top of Eredivisie (The Associated Press)
Ajax beat PEC Zwolle 3-0 Sunday to return to the top of the Dutch Eredivisie in a match preceded by a minute's silence for club icon John Cruyff, who died late last month at age 68. An estimated 4,000 fans gathered before the match near the house in Amsterdam where Cruyff grew up and marched to the Amsterdam Arena stadium, where three giant banners shaped like the shirts of Ajax, Barcelona and the Netherlands, were laid on the pitch. Arek Milik took his season's league tally to 18 with two goals before halftime after Lasse Schone had opened Ajax's account in the 2nd minute.
