Canada pounds US 5-1 in world championship opener (Yahoo Sports)

Canada pounded the United States 5-1 in their opening game of the world ice hockey championship on Friday. The U.S. held the lead for less than a minute in the first period thanks to Patrick Maroon's power-play goal, before Taylor Hall leveled for Canada. Brendan Gallagher's wrist shot put Canada in front at the end of the first.
