Ekblad says Panthers won't be fazed by expectations (Yahoo Sports)

Florida Panthers' Aaron Ekblad smiles as he talks to reporters during an NHL hockey news conference, Thursday, July 7, 2016, in Sunrise, Fla. The Panthers have locked up their star 20-year-old defenseman for eight additional years, the sides formally completing the work Friday on what will be a $60 million extension that keeps him in Florida through the 2024-25 season. Aaron Ekblad is fully aware that the Florida Panthers will be dealing with a new issue this season, that being the burden of preseason expectations. The Panthers reached the playoffs and won the Atlantic Division last season, two major steps for a franchise that has known almost nothing but struggle since reaching the Stanley Cup final for the first and only time in 1996. ''In the end, your guys' expectations and everyone else's expectations mean absolutely nothing,'' Ekblad said.
