Alex Ovechkin says he will play in the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, regardless of whether the NHL agrees to participate. Several Russian players made that stance clear before the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but Ovechkin is continuing it. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said Wednesday that it was ''radio silence'' on the topic of negotiating an agreement with the International Ice Hockey Federation and International Olympic committee.
