Man City takes care of Sunderland (The Associated Press)
Manchester City weathered an early storm from Sunderland on Sunday to exert a stranglehold on proceedings at the Stadium of Light and notch up a comfortable 2-0 win. The Black Cats burst out of the blocks and hit the post through Jermain Defoe, Fabio Borini heading the rebound wide with the goal at his mercy, before Billy Jones twice went close with headers from corners, one falling straight to Willy Caballero and a second bouncing just wide. City then began to dominate possession, and a break up field just before half time saw David Silva feed Raheem Sterling, whose low cross was perfect for Sergio Aguero.
