Whitecaps FC-Sporting Kansas City Preview (The Associated Press)
A shoddy season opener showed the Vancouver Whitecaps have a long way to go to reach last year's defensive standard. There were several breakdowns as well in the Whitecaps' last meeting with Sporting Kansas City, which enters its home opener seeking to build on a far more encouraging initial result. Vancouver finished second in the Western Conference last season in large part by conceding 36 goals, tied with Seattle for the lowest total in MLS.
