Holtby approaching Brodeur's single-season wins record (Yahoo Sports)

In this photo taken March 20, 2016, Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby (70) plays during an NHL hockey game against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh. Holtby is on the verge of tying Martin Brodeur's single-season record of 48 wins with time left to break it. As goalies with 40-plus-win seasons know, it takes a heavy workload, a great team and some luck to make it happen. (AP Photo/Gene J. Puskar)

When Martin Brodeur broke the NHL's single-season wins mark in 2006-07, the New Jersey Devils goaltender was honored that previous record holder Bernie Parent was in attendance. The Hall of Famer sent him a note, and Brodeur had him autograph a replica mask that's still displayed in his home. Nine years later, Brodeur is watching closely as Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby approaches his record.
