Middlesbrough tops rival Sunderland for first EPL win since '09 (The Associated Press)
Two first-half goals from Cristhian Stuani proved enough to give Middlesbrough a 2-1 win over Sunderland Sunday at the Stadium of Light despite a late charge from the hosts. The Uruguayan's double strike gave Boro their first Premier League win since 2009 and made it two defeats from two for Sunderland, who had actually started the game the better side. A decent opening spell from the Black Cats produced a volley for Jermain Defoe that sliced wide and Papy Djilobodji missing close with a header, but it was all undone in the 13th minute when Stuani strode out of midfield and arced a beauty of a shot over Vito Mannone from 25 yards.
