Kane helps Spurs by Sunderland before leaving with injury (The Associated Press)
Tottenham Hotspur moved to third in the Premier League table after Harry Kane scored in a 1-0 win over Sunderland on Sunday at White Hart Lane. Spurs (3-2-0) started strong and soon had the Black Cats on the back foot. Kane thought he had given his side the lead after nine minutes when he met Heung-Min Son's cross in the six-yard box, but Jordan Pickford kept out his effort at the near post.
