Around 90 Borussia Dortmund fans apparently intent on violence were prevented from traveling to Darmstadt for the Bundesliga game between the sides on Saturday. Police in the state of Hessen say they stopped two buses of Dortmund fans and found them armed with flares, combat gloves, balaclavas, painkillers, drugs, and Darmstadt banners. Dortmund is yet to respond to the German football federation, which wants to fine the club 100,000 euros ($106,000) and close the south stand of its stadium for one league game following previous fan disturbances at games.
